01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Steam rises from the clear broth of the Okinawa soba, releasing the gentle, layered umami of its bonito base with the very first sip. Nestled in a quiet pocket of Minami-Senju, Tida Shokudo is an unpretentious diner dedicated to the comforting tastes of the southern islands. The signature Okinawa soba is paired with substantial, chewy thick noodles, and guests can choose from toppings like classic sanmainiku pork belly, slow-simmered soft-bone sōki pork ribs, or a heap of stir-fried vegetables, tailoring their bowl to the day's appetite.

For a heartier meal, sets paired with jūshī—Okinawan-style seasoned mixed rice—or taco rice topped with spiced minced meat and melted cheese make a deeply satisfying choice. Set-meal options include tender, sweet-and-savory cartilage sōki, gently braised rafute pork belly, and comforting pork and egg (pōku tamago). The kitchen also turns out a generous variety of stir-fries, from classic bitter-melon gōyā champurū to wheat gluten fū champurū, green papaya, and firm island tofu, making it an easy spot for everyday lunches and casual dinners.

Island Relaxation with Small Plates

Looming just as large in the diner's charm is lingering over an array of small dishes. Plates might include sea grapes shipped directly from Miyako Island that burst pleasingly with every bite, rich fermented tōfuyō, salty sukugarasu preserved fish, or finely shredded carrot and egg stir-fry (ninjin shirishiri). Chilled glasses of Orion Beer, an assortment of awamori spirits, classic Okinawan A&W root beer, or tart local shikuwasa citrus juice round out the island mood.

The dining room is an intimate space centred on table seating, offering a welcoming atmosphere whether you come solo or with family. Operating primarily for lunch and dinner from Friday through Sunday, the restaurant accepts cash only. It is a relaxing neighborhood retreat to duck into while exploring the area, ideal for taking your time over a deeply flavoured bowl of noodles and honest home cooking.
